The T3 tram and the city of Prague are inseparably linked. In collaboration with Prague Public Transit Company, we created the T3 Coupé project - a sightseeing tram that places the legendary Tatra T3 into a new context while fully respecting its authentic character.

The project transforms the iconic tram into a semi-open sightseeing vehicle that combines original elements with contemporary technologies. By opening the rear section of the car and sensitively integrating historical details, a completely new way of experiencing public transport was created - one that demonstrates that even within public transportation there is room for elegance, atmosphere, and a certain sense of luxury.

The design draws primarily from the original T3 tram while also referencing earlier vehicles from the history of Prague’s public transport. The interior bar is inspired by the ticket counter found in the 1950s T1 tram, while the roof windows recall the iconic Škoda 706 RTO bus. The authenticity of the experience is further enhanced by details such as a functional ticket punch and custom-printed T3 Coupé tickets. In this way, the tram preserves the poetry of the 1960s and pays tribute to František Kardaus (1908–1986), the designer of the original Tatra T3.

T3 Coupé was conceived as a highly complex, multidisciplinary project. In addition to the overall design and author supervision during production, we also oversaw the project’s initial presentation in 2017, which included a virtual ride through the tram. This presentation was awarded the Designblok 2017 Award for Extraordinary Act.

We were also responsible for the ceremonial launch of the tram, christened by the band Tata Bojs, the creation of a complete merchandise collection, and the design of the entire visual identity of the project, including its logotype. The project further included a time-lapse documentary capturing the development process and an extensive presentation at Designblok 2018, when the T3 Coupé entered operation for the first time. Custom uniforms for drivers and stewards were designed for the T3 Coupé by fashion designer Česlav Jaroš.

The tram has been in operation since November 2018 and is available for rental as a sightseeing tram in Prague.
